From Conventional Care to Naturopathic Medicine

Marcia spent 17 years as a certified speech-language pathologist, building expertise in rehabilitative medicine. She worked at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, coordinated speech pathology at Meadowbrook Atlanta (a sub-acute facility treating closed head trauma and degenerative diseases), and held positions at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. She earned her BA in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Maryland, her MS in Communication Sciences from Hampton University, and was a doctoral candidate in Communication Disorders at Howard University. She completed advanced workshops at Harvard and Johns Hopkins.

Over those years, Marcia watched patient after patient in the conventional system struggle with chronic conditions that medication and surgery could not resolve. She began asking questions that conventional medicine was not equipped to answer, and eventually left her established career to pursue naturopathic medicine.

She completed her naturopathic training and became board certified in 2003. Her residency at Emanuel Center for Health in Alpharetta, Georgia, deepened her clinical skills. Now, with over 20 years of practice as a naturopathic doctor, Marcia brings the perspective of someone who spent 17 years in conventional medicine, worked at the NIH, and chose a different path. She has been featured in magazines, serves as an expert health writer, and speaks to professional organizations about integrative care.
